Welcome to the FarmReady Program

Eligible participants are able to claim up to $1500 per financial year to attend FarmReady approved courses, with additional funding available for associated reasonable travel, accommodation and childcare expenses. Approved courses will focus on areas designed to equip primary producers with the tools to manage and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

FarmReady offers two types of support, FarmReady Reimbursement Grants and FarmReady Industry Grants. Industry Grants of up to $80 000 are available to eligible industry, primary producer or natural resource management groups to develop skills and strategies in response to the impacts of climate change. A part of the $130 million Australia's Farming Future initiative, FarmReady is a national program, and available to all primary industries.

Information for Primary Producers

FarmReady Reimbursement Grants assist primary producers and Indigenous land managers to attend approved training courses. Eligible participants can receive up to $1500 each financial year to cover the cost of approved training activities, with additional support available for associated expenses such as excess travel, accommodation and childcare.

Approved courses registered with FarmReady aim to improve the capacity of primary producers to adapt to climate change and increase their self reliance and preparedness.

To be eligible for the FarmReady Reimbursement Grant, you need to be either a:

  • primary producer (including farmers, fishers and foresters as defined by the Australian Taxation Office)
  • immediate family member of a primary producer
  • member of the management team of a primary production enterprise or
  • Indigenous land manager

Before you attend a FarmReady approved course, complete and lodge an application form.

Course Name: Freshcare On-Farm Assurance - Environmental

FarmReady Course Number: FRTC00840

Course Description:
Designed specifically for the fresh produce industry, the Freshcare Environmental Program uses tools such as risk assessment, hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) and prescribed good agricultural practice (GAP) to identify and manage environmental risks on farm. The Freshcare Environmental Code of Practice and supporting materials, provides an innovative and practical set of tools to effectively guide growers through a risk based on-farm assurance process, focussed on environmental management issues. The Code provides an internationally recognised, auditable (3rd party) standard through which Australian growers can provide customers and the wider community with clear assurance of compliance to environmental management requirements. Freshcare is an industry owned on-farm assurance program for the Australian fresh produce industry. The Freshcare Program covers food safety and quality, environmental assurance, occupational health and safety and biosecurity through a set of individual, yet complimentary codes.

Course Description:
Freshcare 'Transition Training' is designed to deliver the Freshcare Food Safety and Quality Code of Practice - 3rd Edition to fresh produce growers and grower/packers who have had some previous experience of on-farm assurance programs (including earlier versions of the Freshcare Code).
The 'Transition Training' introduces the new requirements of the 3rd Edition Freshcare Code of Practice, including risk assessments, hazard analysis, control measures, verification and specific good management / agricultural practices (GMPs / GAPs).
The Code provides an auditable (3rd party) standard through which Australian growers can demonstrate compliance to both food safety and quality requirements.

Course Description:
Set up the PAM Cropping program to enable data capture, recording and reporting at a paddock level. To remain sustainable and prepare for climate change participants need to know which parts of their cropping operation are sustainable and which ones will need to be addressed.

Course Name: Recording Farm Financial Management -Advanced

Course Description:
Farm Financial Recording using the Phoenix program - Advanced provides training to record more detailed information about farm business and more depth about the business structure. Assets, liabilities, invoicing, livestock details, shares are recorded to give the "whole" farm financial picture and to produce a net worth at any given time.

Course Name: Farm Financial Budgeting using Phoenix Power Budgets

Course Description:
Farm Financial Budgeting using Phoenix Power Budgets will help participants to develop a detailed budget that allows enterprises to be compared and "what if" scenarios tested to allow financial security whilst making changes to cater for market changes, change in enterprises and climate change effects. The financial effects of innovations, be they diversification for economic reasons, environmental changes and climate change must be carefully costed into the future to ensure the property remains viable.

Course Description:
The correct setup of the coding in your financial program is vital to allow the best reporting and therefore management information to be available.This training will allow you, the participant, to assess the state of your business using what you currently have set up. We will then analyse the deficiencies in these reports and discuss changes to the setup of your files where necessary to achieve better business management outcomes.

Course Name: Recording Farm Financials - Basics

Course Description:
Farm Financial Recording using the Phoenix program - Basics provides the knowledge required to use the Phoenix software for financial management and reporting - both for farm business management and for compliance requirements such as GST and taxation.

Course Name: Sustainable Farm Planning and Management - Module 4 Fundamentals of Mapping

Course Description:
